Wide range of areas that they can be used

Whether in small interchanges or highly complex traffic control systems, Siemens control systems are versatile, on-site traffic control hubs.  In addition to pure control functions, they also offer the option of traffic data collection,  are compatible with existing systems and can be expanded one module at a time, for example with priority systems for local public transportation.  Using special user-oriented software, operators can maintain the control systems quickly and cost-effectively, program them, and conduct error diagnostics independently.

Local Control Procedure

Modern signaling systems adapt to the traffic situation, for example adjusting the green times to suit the relevant traffic volume. Siemens provides different traffic-actuated local control methods.

Individual and Capable of Growth:

Funtion and User Library PDM e (extended for C940/C900)

The phase-oriented PDMe-control method is the flagship of Siemens control processes. The individual programming option is combined with a variety of functions and user libraries.

Libraries save valuable time with readily programmed and tested functions and solutions for a multitude of applications. Tailored solutions are also available:

In addition, users may archive, name and combine their personally defined components with the PDM components. Sitraffic Office-Language is used to easily link up components. The “individual code” of the relevant user comprises all pre-defined functions: both the PDM libraries as well as the user-defined user libraries. In this way, the component library grows with each completed project, saving a great deal of time in future projects – and thus money.

Standardized and flexible all the same? This is no contradiction. Our strategy: simplification by standardization – with Sitraffic Office-Language and S-L. The single components are already combined here. The user only needs to adapt the components to meet the specific requirements of the relevant intersection – simply via parameterization.

The operation is extremely straightforward: Programming knowledge is not required for any of the process. Even for special cases or large deviations from the standardized components, Office-Language offers tools for an elegant and quick solution.

Frame plan calculation supported by M-Xe (extended for C940/C900)

The central adaptive network control, Sitraffic Motion, is increasingly gaining in importance. One component in network control, the local M-Xe module, can also be used for regular planning with PDM e and S-L e and support planners with automatically generated frame plan calculations. In this way, signal control can be optimally prepared for Sitraffic Motion MX.

Standardized Control Procedure VSPe(Extended for C940/C900)

The software package contains a standardized, parameterizable control method. This makes it possible to benefit from traffic-actuated control without the need to develop a conventional user program.

Traffic Management Nodes Sitraffic VMK

Our traffic management node, Sitraffic VMK, is an extension module for the Cxx0 controller. The local coordination of up to 15 traffic light systems is now possible.

Use Even in Existing Devices

It can be used as a replacement for existing master slave solutions in existing devices. Advanced communication technology is used to implement serial group control, for example by using cable-saving transmission technology ("Partyline").  Networking is implemented via Ethernet connections (TCP/IP).

Reaction Without Detours

In the case of detected failures and events, VMK makes it possible to change over complete road stretches without any traffic computer. It responds to the information provided by individual traffic light systems (e.g. loop data) or to additional information via parallel inputs (e.g. to environmental effects, events, building measures and traffic volume).Project-specific special solutions can also be implemented with the help of the VMK, for instance a cross-controller, parallel activation of display signs if there is a failure or fault on a road

Dynamic Information Boards

Dynamic information boards represent actuators within the scope of an urban traffic management system. They forward up-to-date information to the road users, e.g. with respect to the traffic situation or modal travel alternatives, supply travel time comparisons or recommend directions.  As a road information system, dynamic information boards reach all motorists.

Public Transportation Prioritization

Public transportation prioritization is one of the most important measures a city can take to improve the attractiveness of public road transportation and thus to positively influence the modal split in line with environmental protection.  At the same time, the reduction in travel time leads to an increased efficiency of the vehicle fleet and thus to a possible reduction of the number of vehicles while maintaining the same level of performance.

Our highly flexible traffic actuation gives priority to public transportation. At the same time we are reducing the effect of intervening with individual traffic to a minimum. Special framework conditions can also be taken into consideration in this case, e.g. action being made dependent on the delay of the relevant public transportation vehicle.
