The Sicas S7 programming environment allows for modular programming. Functions can be written in a Function Module and saved in a library. The function can be re-used as often as required. This allows you to focus on you actual application instead of continually re-checking typical circuits. The module themselves can be password protected, but are written in the same language as the rest of the application – they are changeable by all signal engineers.

Due to the ability to structure application programming, re-testing efforts can be reduced. In addition to the overall program signature each function has its own signature and the development environment can compare blocks to find discrepancies. With a properly structured program re-testing efforts can be limited to the affected functions and a complete system re-test can be avoided.
