Advanced Power Conversion for Railway Electrification
Driving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability across modern rail networks.

Driving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability across modern rail networks.
The rail industry must meet growing demands for capacity, efficiency, and sustainability. Modern converter technology is crucial in addressing these requirements by converting power from public 3AC networks to the railway supply system. Providing the railway specific frequencies and enhancing power quality. Our Static Frequency Converter technology enables reliable operation while supporting a more resilient and future-ready rail infrastructure.
Adressing Your Key Challenges
Tackling the engineering challenges that come with feeding single-phase railways from the three-phase public grid, our solutions are designed to solve your most critical operational challenges:
- Maintaining superior power quality: Ensuring precise voltage control and effectively managing unbalanced loads.
- Enhancing overall system efficiency: Maximizing space utilization and driving comprehensive energy optimization.
- Optimizing Substation Infrastructure for Rail Electrification:Â Upgrading existing substations and significantly reducing the number of new substations required, offering a distinct advantage for challenging requirements.
These complex requirements demand an integrated solution that meets all needs simultaneously. Drawing on years of experience and technological innovation, we have developed a comprehensive response to these issues.
Our Solution
The Sitras SFC plus is a Modular Multilevel Direct Converter (MMDC) for advanced railway power conversion. Its unique architecture enables direct conversion of the input and output network voltages, with no intermediate circuit needed. It suits both central and decentralized traction power supply systems.
The SFC plus converts three-phase AC voltage directly into single-phase AC, supporting 16.7 Hz, 25 Hz, 50 Hz, or 60 Hz. With SFCs, your railway line requires no phase separation on the contact line. This allows for longer feeding sections and improves energy exchange within the railway system. These technical capabilities translate directly into tangible advantages:
