The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail connects Ishøj in the south with Lundtofte north of Lyngby along a 28-kilometer double-track route. With 29 modern stations along Ring 3, the new regional light rail line improves mobility across Greater Copenhagen and links cities, workplaces, hospitals, educational institutions, and key transport hubs. Siemens Mobility delivered a turnkey rail solution with 29 four-section Avenio light rail vehicles. In addition, the scope of supply included rail electrification, signaling and communication systems, depot equipment, system integration, project management, and maintenance services for the vehicles over a period of 15 years.

Project management
Siemens acts as consortium leader within a consortium with Aarsleff Rail. As consortium leader Siemens is responsible for the overall project management, interface management, configuration management, quality management, project controlling, documents management and contract management among others of the complete project.
The turnkey core project management is based in Siemens Denmark while the lot project management is located in both, Germany and Denmark.
Signaling and communication

System integration
Within the turnkey framework, we facilitate the integration of 500+ interfaces across rolling stock, power supply, depot workshop equipment, track works, signalling and digital services for the light rail system consistent of 28 km of track with 29 passenger stations in the Greater Copenhagen area.
Rail electrification
Our solutions for rail electrification, such as our corrosion-resistant and low-maintenance contact lines or our robust and reliable switchgear, increase the reliability and durability of any rail system. What's more, our traction current control system ensures operator-friendly monitoring and control of the rail electrification system.
Depot solutions and workshop equipment
Siemens Mobility deliveres the depot as part of the light rail project to ensure optimal vehicle maintenance and reduce downtime. An optimized wheel reprofiling machine, a train wash system that effectively removes graffiti and recycles 80% of the water used, a lightweight aluminum platform, a variety of lifting equipment, and a bogie repair facility enable flexible and effective maintenance and repair of the vehicles.
