Cutting-edge turnkey rail solution for 32 trains on a 35.9 km route
In an innovative technology partnership for Bangkok's public transportation, Siemens Mobility, in partnership with ST Engineering Urban Solutions Ltd. and Turkish railway manufacturer Bozankaya, has secured a major contract to revolutionize the Metropolitan Rapid Transit's (MRT) Orange Line. This comprehensive turnkey project will see the delivery of 32 state-of-the-art three-car trains, designed to enhance the commuting experience for thousands of passengers daily.
Cutting-edge technology for seamless commutes
The project covers a 35.9-kilometer route that includes both underground and elevated sections, seamlessly connecting the east and west parts of the city. Siemens Mobility will not only provide the rolling stock but also integrate cutting-edge mechanical and electrical systems. This includes advanced signaling system, communications, platform screen doors, and passenger information system, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
Scope of supply
The delivery of rolling stock, signaling system, communications, platform screen doors, and passenger information system ensures a fully integrated and high-performance transport solution.Â

System Integration and Project Management
M&E system integration and project management for rolling stock, signaling, depot and workshop equipment, communication and platform screen doors, including 28 stations for both the east and west section.

Rolling Stock
32 three-car trains feature innovative technology characterized by a low energy consumption traction system, including a well-proven and modern automatic train control system and achieving a top speed of 80 km/h.

Communications System
Integration of a communication system designed and implemented by the Consortium Partner ST Engineering Urban Solutions (Thailand) Ltd.

Signaling System
Delivery of a safe, reliable and advanced automatic train control system comprising Automatic Train Supervision (ATS), automatic train control Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) system including Automatic Train Protection (ATP) & Automatic Train Operation (ATO), as well as a Computer-Based Interlocking (CBI) system.

Passenger Information System
The trains are equipped with an enhanced information system for passenger comfort and feature the Public Address (PA) system and Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) to deliver visual and audio information on the trains, in stations and the depot.

Platform Screen Doors
Modern attractive platform screen door design fully equipped for a three-car train unit at each station. Transparent half height platform screen doors in elevated stations (14 platforms) and transparent full height platform screen doors in underground stations (42 platforms).

Depot and Workshop Solutions
Supply of safe, efficient and reliable depot and workshop equipment to support the operation of train services e.g. body repairs, bogie repairs, electrical component repairs, air conditioning module repairs, brake module repairs, vehicle door repairs.

Maintenance Services
A long-term maintenance agreement has been agreed upon for the Orange Line, ensuring reliable and smooth operations for years to come and to be completed in May 2037. This agreement covers initial maintenance services for the first three years, consultancy, supervisory services and technical support for up to 10 years, as well as the provision of specialized maintenance equipment.
