Desiro ML AM08, Belgien for Belgian Railways NMBS / SNCB
Siemens has received an order from the Belgian rail operator Société Nationale de Chemins de Fer Belge (SNCB) to supply 305 multiple-unit trains to be used in Belgium’s regional rail service.
The trains will be manufactured at the Siemens plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen in Germany and are scheduled for delivery in the period from 2011 to 2016.
Desiro ML Mittelrheinbahn
The Desiro ML Mittelrheinbahn is designed as a 3-car unit. With an availability of over 99% it is in commercial service since December 2008. The arrangement of the large components on the roof results in more usable interior space. Thanks to its low-floor entrances of 800 mm, the trains permit easy boarding for passengers, for families with baby carriages and for passengers in wheelchairs. Spacious entrance vestibules with 1,300-mm-wide access doors and optional wider intercar gangways also allow fast and safe passenger boarding and exiting.
Desiro ML ÖBB cityjet
The Austrian State Railways (ÖBB) called up the first 100 regional Desiro ML-type trainsets from a master agreement with Siemens.
30 trains are destined for service with the S-Bahn (urban mass transit) in the Austrian capital Vienna and Lower Austria, and 70 for regional rail services in Upper Austria and in Styria. ÖBB will operate the Desiro ML under the name "cityjet".
The Desiro ML ÖBB is designed as a 3-car unit. The S-Bahn trains feature 244 seats, while the regional trainsets boast 259 seats. The Desiro trains can attain a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Convenient low-floor entrances guarantee obstacle-free access (without ramps) including for wheelchair users and families with strollers or baby carriages. The floor height is 600 mm.
