Many of the locomotives, railcars and trams used throughout the US are built in a huge factory in Northern California.

A robust, rail-centric network should remain the backbone into which other transportation modes, like autonomous shuttles, ride-sharing and scooters, can feed.

Heavy rail continues to develop. Technology continues to make rail lines more efficient and can also increase passenger comfort.

With demand for Amtrak service at record levels, Amtrak will acquire new mainline passenger diesel locomotives from Siemens Mobility to replace its aging National Network locomotive fleet. These initial 75 locomotives will be used principally for Amtrak’s Long Distance train service, with options to purchase more, for use on some State Supported routes and for future growth.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a 650 million contract in Canada to design and build the next generation of VIA Rail Canada's trainsets.
