Siemens Mobility uses advanced design skills and tools under a distributed architecture approach to custom engineer and manufacture products that play an integral role in ensuring safe, reliable transportation on many of the busiest railroads and mass transit systems in operation today. Many of our on-board systems have been used for over 20 years to protect safety-critical railroad operations on a daily basis.

This ADU is the primary visual interface between the vehicle operator and the train control systems. It combines indications from separate train control systems, such as automatic train control (ATC) and Amtrak’s Advanced Civil Speed Enforcement System (ACSES) to form an on-board operator’s positive train control (PTC) display.

We offer two PC interfaces: the CabView™, a nine-aspect cab signal system, and ACSESView™, designed for Amtrak’s ACSES. These software solutions provide system diagnostics, performance monitoring and wayside troubleshooting. They turn ordinary notebook computers into powerful, flexible, easy-to-use portable test equipment. Their display and triggering capabilities allow operators to zero in on problems without needing to wade through unrelated data. These techniques have been proven in over 20 years of experience with AMTRAK, CSX and MBTA maintenance departments.

Siemens Mobility is a specialist in U.S. cab signaling design. For example, we designed Amtrak’s ACSES and ACSES II systems that provide both civil speed enforcement and positive stop capability in one integrated package. ACSES II is used in Amtrak’s North East Corridor (NEC). Benefits include a complete PTC solution when overlaid on a traditional cab signal system such as ATC. A single operator display combines both civil and traffic speed enforcement information.
