Reliable train detection for enhanced safety
Wide band shunts
Siemens Mobility Wide Band Shunts (WBS) Series introduces low impedance to all alternating current frequencies and high impedance to direct current energy – thus allowing the end user to properly terminate grade crossing approach circuits. Pre-wired internally using either #6 AWG copper wire or Erico brand bondstrand.
Narrow band shunts
Siemens Mobility Narrow Band Shunts (NBS) Series introduces low impedance to a selected narrow band of alternating current frequencies and high impedance to direct current as well as all alternating current frequencies outside the selected band. This allows the end user to properly terminate grade crossing approach circuits.
Pre-wired internally using either #6 AWG copper wire or Erico brand bondstrand.
Siemens Mobility also offers a variety of industry standard frequencies to choose from, ranging from 86 Hz to 970 Hz. Some selected models offer additional benefits such as a higher than normal impedance or are designed for use in high power applications.
- Hermetically sealed in an ABS shell casing
- Available pre-wired internally with 10 ft (3 m) long leads using either #6 AWG copper wire or #6 Erico brand bondstrand
- Requires no specialized tuning
Test shunts
Siemens Mobility TS Series Test Shunts are portable track test shunts which combine greater ease of use with positive shunting.
Toggle clamps are used for quick attachment or removal to either the base or ball of the rail. These clamps provide a positive grip with a release lever for easy removal.
Hardened steel points bite through rust and scale for better electrical contact. Jaws are adjustable to accommodate any size of rail. Clamps of cadmium-plated steel, conductors of #6 copper cable with a neoprene jacket, and a center block of compression-molded, high-impact plastic allow the shunt to withstand rugged field use.
The center block contains a sealed 0.06 Ω resistor as well as two test links to provide an open circuit, zero resistance and 0.06 Ω shunting in the same unit.
Smart track vacancy detection for cost-effective operations
Clearguard WSR and WSS
The Clearguard WSR (Wheel Sensor Relay) and Clearguard WSS (Wheel Sensor Single) wheel detectors are electronic switches which respond contactlessly to wheel flanges.
The Clearguard WSR wheel detector replaces mechanical or magnetic track-installed switching devices such as the S44, MK and WSSB-Impulsgeber without any modifications required to the cabling or existing evaluation equipment with a nominal operating voltage of 18 V to 60 V DC or 24 V to 60 V AC.
The Clearguard WSS wheel detector also replaces the RSE wheel detector without any modifications required to the cabling or existing evaluation equipment.
Key benefits
- Compliance with the latest compatibility requirements for cross-border traffic in Europe
- Interface compatibility with existing wheel detectors and intermittent track installed switching devices
- No additional interface board required for indoor equipment
- Cabling compatibility – no separate operating voltage supply necessary
- No electronics required in the trackside connection box
- Maintenance-free
- Rail web or rail base clamp attachment
- Max. traversal speed of 450 km/h
