Siemens Mobility signs framework agreement with Swiss BLS for ETCS Level 2 upgrade
Siemens Mobility and Swiss BLS Netz AG have agreed on a joint, long-term framework agreement worth €110 million. The contract includes modernization of the existing control and safety technology to meet the latest European Train Control System standard (ETCS Level 2).

First time Siemens Mobility brake control systems in SBB vehicles
Since the currently installed control unit was discontinued by the supplier, SBB published a tender in the summer of 2023 for the replacement of the electronic brake control system in the Re 460 locomotives and the IC2000 control car. The last of the Re 460 locomotives, built by a purely Swiss industrial community, were put into service between 1992 and 1996 and are expected to be in service at least until the mid-2040s.
