The Deutsche Bahn and Siemens Mobility have been successfully collaborating on a groundbreaking project since 2020, involving 90 Velaro MS high-speed trains. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the trains of the 408 series have been delivered on schedule since December 2022 and are now being used on the high-speed lines between North Rhine-Westphalia and Frankfurt (M) and on to Munich via Stuttgart. Expansion to international routes is planned from mid-2024. The project secures over 2500 jobs in Germany and has a domestic value-added share of over 75%, underscoring the close collaboration until the delivery of the last train in 2028.
