As a DC protection device it protects DC switchgear and contact line systems against critical operating conditions and detects short-circuits during the current rise before the maximum short-circuit currents are reached.

Sitras MDC - Modular Digital Controller

Proven protection for overhead contact lines, future-proof and easy to operate: Sitras MDC offers protection and control functions and flexible communication.

More than a protection device

Sitras MDC is versatile in use. Not just as a simple protection device, but also as a controller for circuit-breaker control including automatic test and reclose function. The optional integrated PLC can be used to implement virtually any automation applications. Disconnectors can be controlled, or customer-specific interlockings can be implemented.

Makes work easier

The operator is kept constantly updated with the standardized communication interfaces Profinet and IEC 61850 Edition 2. Web access via the standard browser Google Chrome makes it easy to configure the unit and download the event buffer and fault records from anywhere in the network. Fault analysis is supported with calculation of the fault location.

Unprecedented modularity

The hardware and the software functions can be selected according to customer requirements. Hardware can be combined by the customer and added as necessary. That makes the Sitras MDC easy to adapt to a range of system requirements. If spare parts are ever needed, individual components can be replaced.
