For us, quality and the highest performance are a tradition

We developed and built our first auxiliary converters in 1947. What was true then is still true now: Our auxiliary converters are rugged, reliable, powerful, and highly innovative. Plus they're always precisely tailored to the requirements that our customers bring to us from all areas of railway technology.

Components you can rely on

We offer you auxiliary converters for all standard voltages and networks: from 750 V, 1,500 V, or 3,000 V to 15,000 V / 16.67 Hz or 25,000 V / 50 Hz single-phase alternating current. At the same time, we fulfill local demands on our technology with a worldwide network of production facilities. The compact, flexible, highly efficient, and modular design of our auxiliary converters is a major contributor to their global success. It allows us to implement individualized solutions for our customers at a reasonable cost. Our large installed base with customers worldwide corroborates our extraordinarily extensive experience and expertise in the area of auxiliary converters. Despite all the modularity, the focus of their development is always the system concept and optimal output, with reliable, durable components and certification for worldwide use. And wherever our customers are counting on us, we're there with our strategically targeted service network.

Specific benefits for your business

Another way to benefit from our experience: When developing our systems and components, we're always thinking about the practical application and doing our best to maximize their usefulness.

Rugged, reliable, efficient

Right from the start, auxiliary converters from Siemens Mobility were developed for use under harsh conditions such as very high and very low temperatures and rapid temperature changes. They have proven their worth in decades of efficient operation in all installation locations (underfloor, on the roof, in the vehicle).

High performance, compact construction

Space-saving concepts are welcome in all areas of vehicle construction, not just for rail vehicles. Thanks to short cable routes, reduced wiring, and an especially compact design, the auxiliary converters from Siemens Mobility offer you numerous options for gaining more space for passengers or, for example, improving passenger comfort through larger systems.

Simple engineering, simple service

Thanks to their modular construction, the engineering and installation of our auxiliary converters are extremely simple. What's more, the systems for 750 V and 1,500 V for use in metros use the same housing and the systems are designed so that all the modules are easily accessible for service.

Higher performance and lower costs with silicon carbide

Using SiC semiconductors (silicon carbide) for the power electronics in combination with intelligent electronic design, the size and weight of our auxiliary converters have been drastically reduced. Thus, allowing an undeniable gain in terms of efficiency and performance. Furthermore, our modular block concept allows also a significant reduction regarding development time and costs.
