ACS-64 Locomotive

ACS-64

Amtrak ordered 70 ACS-64 electric locomotives, which it is now using to offer more reliable and efficient service in the Northeast and Keystone corridors. And now SEPTA has also opted for 15 ACS-64 locomotives.

E40AC

The E40AC freight locomotive is designed for use in Australia’s heavy freight transport. Thanks to its superior performance, it significantly reduces the number of locomotives required: Five of the old locomotives can be replaced by three E40AC locomotives.

Vectron – a model of sustainability

Energy-efficient production, environmentally friendly materials, and up to 98 percent recyclability – that’s what makes the Vectron locomotive generation so extraordinary. For example: After recycling, a Vectron electric locomotive weighing a total of 85t is reduced to only 1,700kg – the equivalent of a mid-sized European car.

140 years of Siemens locomotives – a success story in production and performance

Siemens Mobility is at home on the rails. For over 140 years, we’ve been connecting people and regions via rails, and we’re constantly setting new trends in development with sustainable, smart rail transport. It all began back in 1879 with the first electric railway from Siemens.

Tradition meets know-how: At our locomotive plant in Munich-Allach

For more than 180 years, locomotives have been manufactured for the world market in Munich – a total of more than 22,000 to be exact. Today, we manufacture the Vectron at our locomotive plant in Munich-Allach using state-of-the-art production technologies as well as highly flexible assembly methods.

A look back at the plant

Locomotives have been built in Munich since 1838. In 1841, J. A. Maffei delivers his first locomotive, which bears the name "Der Münchener." By 1864 the total number of locomotives delivered reaches already 500, and the year 1900 sees the delivery of the two-thousandth locomotive.

The plant today

Locomotives by Siemens Mobility are manufactured, assembled and put into operation in Munich-Allach. Part of the development process also takes place here. Munich serves as a control center for the worldwide production of locomotives.
